Huawei, Senai opens fibre training centre in Brazil

Chinese multinational technology company Huawei Technologies has teamed up with the Brazilian National Service for Industrial Training (Senai) to open a professional training and certification lab for the ICT and telecom sectors in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim (Espirito Santo).

The project is part of the national partnership between the two institutions to solve the shortage of skilled labour. The laboratories will provide Fiber to the Home or fibre optic (FTTH) technology installation and maintenance courses.

According to a report by Exame, the laboratories that will be used in FTTH technology installation and maintenance courses aim to serve the NEM-NEM generation – young adults who neither work nor study – and also technology professionals, given the expansion of the internet through optical fibre to all regions of Brazil, not just the large centers.

In addition to the Espírito Santo unit, laboratories were delivered to the Federal District, Bahia, and Tocantins in partnership with Senai, it said.

The course will be held in the laboratory, structured in partnership with Huawei, located at the Senai unit in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, which is part of the ICT Academy, and has a technical staff of qualified instructors. Upon completion, the student will be able to work in network and connectivity infrastructure.

The federal deputy Evair de Melo, who brokered this partnership, said: "We will have hopeful young people, trained for the job market, who will contribute to the insertion of 5G. And, from there, all of us will benefit from this technology that will bring more connectivity, communication, and improvements in all information systems”.
