Tajikistan’s Babilon-Mobile, which operates as Babilon-M, has selected Baicells as its provider for hundreds of new 4G and 5G base stations to be deployed imminently.
Over the new few months, Babilon-M will roll out the base stations across sites in Dushanbe, Khujand and other cities, allowing more users to connect to 4G and laying the ground for more widespread 5G deployment. The operator said that it had chosen Baicells’ solutions due to their “disruptive price, large support team, and the ability to transition to 5G.”
TeleGeography reports that while the operator has offered 4G in areas of Dushanbe since 2012 and in other cities since 2016, it is currently the only operator in the market that has not yet begun offering 5G services. Since 2020, rival operators MegaFon, Tcell and ZET-Mobile have all started offering limited 5G services in Dushanbe.
Bai Wei, General Manager of Baicells International Business, said: “Baicells is very honoured and pleased to be selected by Babilon-Mobile to build the whole 4G network and the 5G in the near future. We believe Baicells’ innovative solution can help our valued customer and partner to build a flagship network in Tajikistan.”
