North Macedonia’s Mtel – which currently offers satellite TV services – has announced plans to begin a mobile offering in spring 2022.
CommsUpdate reports that the operator, which is part of the Telekom Srbija (MTS) group, entered the North Macedonian market in November 2021 and has not yet launched a mobile telephony service. It currently has around 1,100 satellite TV customers.
In an interview with local news outlet Faktor, General Manager of Telekom Srbija Vladimir Lucic said that Mtel aims to establish itself in the market with a full complement of telecom and digital services, noting that more competition would benefit consumers.
“’The entry of a third operator will certainly have a favourable impact on the market in terms of reducing prices and improving services. The research we have conducted shows that the mood of domestic customers is such that they welcome the arrival of a new operator by expecting an offer with better conditions and services from those who are already present”, said Lucic.
