Slovenia’s government is mulling a potential sale of all or part of its holding in Telekom Slovenije.
The state is the majority shareholder in the fixed and mobile provider with a 62.54% direct interest, while state entities Kapitalska druzba (KAD) and Slovenia Sovereign Holding (SDH) respectively hold a further 5.59% and 4.25% in the operator.
Local news outlet RTV Slovenia reported that the government had approved an annual capital investment plan for SDH, noting that the holding company has previously stated that it is seeking a partner to invest in Telekom Slovenije.
RTV Slovenia’s report states that SDH is “planning an analysis of the industry, an analysis of the Telekom Slovenije Group’s operations, an in-depth analysis of competition, a look at consolidation options and an overview of possible activities to increase the company’s value and value for owners.”
TeleGeography reports that the Slovenian government has made three previous attempts to privatise Telekom Slovenije. Its most recent offer was made by UK-based Cinven in 2015, but was retracted after the parties failed to agree on the terms of the transaction.
