Etisalat Misr taps Ericsson for BSS upgrade and VoLTE capacity

Egyptian operator Etisalat Misr is modernising its Business Support Systems (BSS) using solutions from Ericsson.

Under the deal, Ericsson will upgrade and modernise the operator’s BSS platform, enabling it to meet growing demand for data and VoLTE traffic as well as preparing for the expansion of IoT and 5G. CommsUpdate reports that this will boost Etisalat Misr’s capabilities in the customer, product, and service management domains.

In addition to upgrading its BSS, Etisalat Misr is also using Ericsson Cloud VoLTE technology to boost its capacity for VoLTE services, which it believes will improve customer experience for “several millions of users.”

Hazem Metwally, CEO of Etisalat Misr, said: “Enhancing our business operations in Egypt is essential to improving customers’ services and satisfaction. We are looking forward to the outcomes of this partnership that will be brought, especially with evolving our BSS, Digital transformation, latest network technology readiness, Fintech and IoT.”
