Global internet backbone provider Arelion has announced two deals in the Latin American market, where it has expanded its network in Mexico with help from data centre operator KIO Networks and also partnered with Gold Data, a leading Latin American network provider, to expand its reach in both Mexico and other parts of Latin America.
In Mexico Arelion has added two new diverse points of presence (PoPs) enhancing its ecosystem in Mexico City. The synergy will enable local connectivity to Arelion's global backbone, AS1299, in the MEX|5 and MEX|2 data centres operated by KIO Networks, increasing the total points of presence (PoPs) for Arelion now in Mexico to six.
KIO Networks currently operates more than 40 data centres in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe.
In southwestern Ciudad de México (or CDMX), where MEX|2 is located, there has been significant investment, with many technology company headquarters located there including cloud, gaming, security and mobility companies. MEX|5, in the northern edge of CDMX, is located in a more industrial area. Together the two locations provide diverse hubs to serve end users and enterprises in the fast growing CDMX region.
Meanwhile Gold Data has been selected by Arelion to expand its reach and service portfolio throughout Latin America, including customers in Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
As a result of the collaboration with Gold Data, which will cover both data and internet services, Arelion will be able to tap further into a rapidly growing market with direct access to 156 key PoPs and 76 data centres throughout the region.
The Gold Data network will facilitate Arelion's reach, delivering services including Wavelengths (DWDM), Ethernet, Cloud Connect and IP Transit (AS1299). The collaboration offers high-quality connections to data centres in Latin America via Gold Data’s backbone connecting more than 16 submarine cables between Latin America and the US.
