Apple has made India the latest location for the manufacturing of its flagship iPhone 13 as the company aims to shift its manufacturing reliance away from China, reported Reuters.
The US giant’s Taiwanese manufacturing partner Foxconn will produce the device at a plant located in the Southern Tamil Nadu state, according to a source.
Apple has been reported to have been shifting some of its iPhone production from China since last year with the view to having the majority of its top-selling lines made in India.
India, Mexico and Vietnam have risen in importance to US contracted manufacturers, as brands in the US push to have their supply chains less reliant on China.
Cisco is considering opening plants in India as it wants to replace Chinese made equipment in its Indian operator partners.
