Indian managed data centre service provider Yotta Infrastructure has unveiled what it describes as North India’s first hyperscale data centre, at an inauguration ceremony at its Greater Noida Data Centre Park.
Yotta D1, the first of six data centre buildings planned for the Greater Noida Data Centre Park, has been set up with an investment of around 15 billion rupees (just under US$181 million) and has been built and made operational in only 20 months. Once fully operational, Yotta D1 will see an additional investment of 50 billion rupees (about US$603 million) in IT equipment.
Yotta D1 is strategically located near the key business hubs of India’s National Capital Region. The data centre spans 27,870 square metres and offers an IT load capacity of 28.8 MW. Yotta D1 can house 5,000 racks across seven server floors and offers fail-safe, 48-hour power backup on full load.
Spread across 20 acres, the Yotta Greater Noida Data Centre Park will offer a total capacity of 30,000 racks, four dedicated fibre paths and an IT power capacity of 160 MW. Yotta D2 & D3, with 30MW of capacity each, will be ready to go live in January 2024.
The launch also saw Yotta entering into an MoU with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to invest 390 billion rupees (about US$4.7 billion) over five to seven years. This investment will go towards constructing the data centre campus and procuring IT equipment and other hardware by Yotta and its customers.
Yotta has been extremely busy recently. In 2020 it announced the inauguration of what was described as India’s largest data centre building near Mumbai. It is planning further facilities in at least seven more areas as well as a cloud platform.
The Data Centre Dynamics website reports that Yotta has also entered a partnership with state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) which will see Yotta convert BSNL’s infrastructures and buildings across the country into edge data centre facilities.
