Uruguayan operator Dedicado has chosen Nokia to supply its 5G Non-Standalone (5G NSA) network.
Dedicado’s network will be delivered primarily over the 3.5GHz band but will use the 900MHz band to offer LTE. The initial deployment will cover the cities of Montevideo and Canelones as well as surrounding areas, with the network expanding to additional regions in the short term.
To construct the RAN, Nokia will use 5G base stations and radio access equipment from its AirScale portfolio, which it claims will enable lower latencies and greater speeds and capacity. Upon launch, the network will deliver residential and enterprise access primarily in urban areas, but Dedicado plans to add advanced mobile broadband to its offering.
“We selected Nokia as our trusted vendor due to its innovative and secure, high quality technology portfolio which will ensure we are able to future-proof our services and deliver a world-class 5G network, levering innovation in the country,” said Arturo Vargas, CEO of Dedicado Uruguay.
