Paratus, described as a full-service network spanning the African continent and connecting customers internationally, has welcomed the Roads Authority (RA) of Namibia as the latest client of its recently opened Paratus Namibia Armada Data Centre in Windhoek.
The Namibia Economist says that RA’s data migration process was fast-tracked in under 24 hours and sees Paratus now providing RA with an internet link for the Namibian Traffic Information System’s ‘online renewal’ of license discs service as well as a Layer 2 link from the RA HQ to the data centre itself.
Roads Authority Namibia is responsible for the wider Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Corridor Trip Monitoring System (CTMS) that aims to maintain and track all truck drivers who come in and out Namibia from different countries, and, because Namibia was chosen as the region in which data needs to be stored, the Armada data centre provides the ideal solution for RA’s data protection.
Sales Account Manager at Paratus, Daniel Joaquim, who managed the process for RA said, “Safety and security of data and equipment is a monumental concern for the association and particularly for the Corridor Trip Monitoring System (CTMS) project… Data loss or a security breach of any kind would compromise the information of many thousands of clients across Africa and would be catastrophic. Armada protects its clients against any such risk and offers total resilience because the Paratus Group owns and manages multiple international links from Namibia into the SADC region.”
