Somalia’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed that the country’s operators have implemented the interconnection agreement signed in December 2022.
The agreement will allow users to place calls seamlessly across the country’s different mobile networks. It was finalised at the end of last year after protracted talks between all involved parties which focused on settling all the fundamental issues that would facilitate the agreement’s implementation, such as fixing mobile termination rates (MTRs).
The NCA noted that “the agreement has been implemented in part by Hormuud Telecom, Somtel, Amtel, SomLink, Golis Telecommunications and Telesom”, having come into effect on 10th January.
