bKash and Huawei pushing financial inclusion in Bangladesh

Bangladeshi mobile money firm bKash has extended its existing partnership with Huawei.

The self-professed largest mobile money provider in Bangladesh, bKash offers a suite of mobile financial services, including airtime top-ups, mobile payments, remittances, savings and small loans. In 2017, it partnered with Huawei to digitise its offering, and the firms are now working together on a “smart fintech” strategy to increase Bangladesh’s financial inclusion.

Huawei Bangladesh president Pan Junfeng said that companies hoped to “deepen our partnership to empower and enable more people in Bangladesh to seize the benefits of the digital economy for development”, adding that their expanded cooperation would ““drive the growth of the digital economy in Bangladesh, setting a remarkable example to other…countries in the region, when it comes to financial inclusion”.
