Telecentro Argentina taps Nokia network transformation

Telecentro Argentina has selected solutions from Nokia for its network transformation.

As it prepares to boost the capacity of its network to support new services and a growing subscriber base, Telecentro Argentina will deploy IP solutions from Nokia that will help scale its capacity and reduce its energy consumption, as well as providing network protection capabilities against DDoS threats and attacks.

These include Nokia’s 7750 Service Router (SR) platform, which is powered by its FP5 routing silicon, and its 7250 interconnect routers (IXR) for broadband aggregation. In particular, the FP5 will enable higher-capacity IP networks that are more energy efficient, and its 800GE capability will allow Telecentro to meet future traffic growth sustainably and at lower cost.

Telecentro will also deploy Deepfield Defender, Nokia’s DDoS security solution. This uses big data analytics along with a proprietary security intelligence feed to offer a holistic perspective on DDoS attacks across the entire network, accurately detecting them as they happen for the highest levels of protection and mitigation.

The Deepfield Cloud Intelligence solution will also be deployed, which will give Telecentro cost-effective, real-time and actionable insight into all its network flows by optimising Telecentro’s network infrastructure and resources.

Juan Luna, CTIO, Telecentro Argentina said: “We selected Nokia because of the performance and capabilities of the 7750 SR family with the new FP5 network processor. This will enable Telecentro to continue its innovation vision and provide the network capacity needed to meet growing access and interconnection demands. This strategic project implies an extensive 100% 400GE deployment, the first one in the Latin American region. In addition, the comprehensive blend of Deepfield will provide inline protection from DDoS attacks and a complete view of the behaviour of the traffic in our network, serving a B2C and B2B ever-demanding market.”

Fernando Sosa, Market Unit Head for Southern Cone at Nokia, said: “This network transformation will allow Telecentro to meet the increasing demand for ultrabroadband services throughout Argentina. We will be providing a state-of-the-art infrastructure more than capable to meet today’s demands and is ready for the future.”
