Argentina’s regulator ENACOM (Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones) has revealed that it is aiming to hold the country’s long-delayed multi-band 5G spectrum auction in June 2023.
ENACOM vice president Gustavo Lopez confirmed the timeframe in an address at the Internet Day event held this week in Buenos Aires, with BNAmericas quoting him as saying “the political will is to do it as soon as possible.”
CommsUpdate reports that spectrum in the 1500MHz, 2.3GHz, 3.5GHz, 26GHz and 38GHz bands will be made available for bidding, along with frequencies in the AWS-3 band. The government expects the auctions to generate as much as US$1.4 billion.
