Operators to compete in Vietnam spectrum auction

Four of Vietnam’s major network operators have applied to compete for three spectrum licences at the country’s next auction, reported VietnamNet.

Viettel, VNPT-Vinaphone, MobiFone and Vietnamobile were reported to be the operators in contention for new spectrum to bolster their respective networks.

Up for auction will be three 15-year licences for mobile spectrum in the 2300MHz to 2400MHz band for the development of 4G and 5G services.

Successful bidders will be limited to 30MHz of spectrum each in the following slots: 2300MHz-2330MHz; 2330MHz-2360MHz; and 2360MHz-2390MHz.

The auction will be held by the Ministry of Information and Communications which opened up for applications to the airwaves in April.
