VNPT launches 10Gbps broadband in Vietnam

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) will launch 10Gbps fibre with vendor partner Nokia, a move the vendor said is the first deployment of the broadband speeds.

The initial rollout will cover 10,000 premises in eight of the largest provinces in Vietnam, which Nokia did not detail in its statement. The vendor is providing fibre access nodes for the operator’s exchanges and fibre modems for end users’ premises.

VNPT is the market leader for fibre broadband with 39.5% of the market in 2022, according to Global Data’s Vietnam Telecom Operators Country Intelligent Report. Nokia said in its statement by moving to a multi-gigabit network VNPT is able to differentiate its services by offering internet connections up to 10Gbps.

VNPT Net Corporation CEO Dang Anh Son: “This project is our first step towards high-class FTTx services which meet our residential and business customers’ demand for higher bandwidth and service quality using the latest generation XGS-PON. Next step, VNPT will work with Nokia to deploy cloud-based network management systems for the XGS-PON and enhance customer experiences through digital transformation solutions.”
