Intec, a provider of both business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS), has announced a contract extension with Atlantique Telecom, one of the fastest growing GSM operators in West and Central Africa. Under the terms of the agreement Intec will supply its market-leading Interconnect software to Atlantique mobile subsidiaries throughout French-speaking Africa from a single centralised platform deployment. In the African wholesale billing market there are now close to 40 operators using Intec technology.
One of the key aspects of the deal is that the same Intec Interconnect platform will be shared by all Atlantique subsidiaries; remote access to the system hosted in Abidjan allows seamless and secure use of the system by the different countries. Following the installation of the original Intec Interconnect platform at Moov Côte d'Ivoire, Atlantique saw a rapid RoI.
"Our commercial challenge was to reduce our wholesale costs for national and international interconnect traffic while continuing with our sustained expansion; Intec has met this...," commented Aboubacar Coulibaly, Group IT Director at Atlantique Telecom.
* Atlantique Telecom is a GSM operator in West and Central Africa. Moov is the mobile brand name of Atlantique Telecom, a telecommunications holding company with Banque Atlantique as minority shareholder and Etisalat as majority shareholder.
