Huawei's latest security products and solutions garnered much attention at the recent Huawei Network Summit (HNS) 2023 in Jakarta as the vendor expands its capabilities in this key sector.
With the theme "Innovations Never Stop" the event attracted an array of industry and enterprise leaders, experts and scholars. Kan Zhou, CTO of the security product domain of Huawei Data Communication Product Line, spoke on the topic of Network-Security Collaboration: Building a Robust Line of Defense for Campus Networks. In the security exhibition area, Huawei's latest security products and scenario-specific solutions attracted attention from numerous customers, while attendees and partners from Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and other Asia-Pacific countries engaged in extensive discussions with network security experts and commentators.
Network-Security Collaboration: Building a Robust Line of Defense for Campus Networks
According to Kan Zhou, as enterprises accelerate their digital transformation journey, they are increasingly confronted with a diverse and complex range of cyber threats. In 2022, global cyber attacks surged, with a year-on-year increase of 38%. Currently, enterprises are facing three challenges in network security construction: First, as IoT devices like cameras and printers become increasingly ubiquitous, traditional security solutions with fixed policies are proving inadequate. With remote work becoming the norm, people's access locations, time, and endpoint types are constantly changing, rendering static policies ineffective in addressing current security access challenges. Second, the connectivity of all devices and the various types of endpoint access can be quite complex, making it difficult to manually identify forged or hijacked endpoints in a timely and accurate manner. Finally, in the event of a security breach, threats can easily spread. Traditional border protection methods are often insufficient in preventing the lateral movement of these threats.
To assist enterprises in tackling these challenges, Huawei utilizes its cutting-edge security technology research capabilities to introduce the HiSec 3.0 Solution.

In government scenarios, despite the deployment of security devices by a government agency, the campus network remains vulnerable to unknown intrusions and digital assets are being stolen. Huawei HiSec 3.0 Solution offers a specialized security engine that enhances security performance, including encryption, decryption, and intrusion prevention, by threefold. Moreover, the detection rate has increased from 60% in signature database-based detection mode to 96% in intelligent detection mode, significantly improving the effectiveness of threat detection.
In financial scenarios, banks often have multiple branches, making network deployment a complex task. Huawei offers an all-in-one security gateway that supports LTE/PoE and can be deployed in just 5 minutes. This integrated solution allows for unified management and delivery of network and security configurations. Access policies can be configured at once, ensuring secure access from any location and reducing OPEX costs by 80%.
In transportation scenarios, the network of an airport is incredibly complex, with over 100 types of cloud-, network-, and endpoint-side devices and more than 1000 pieces of security data generated daily. Manual analysis is inefficient and the data cannot be processed in a timely manner, posing significant challenges to security operations and maintenance. Huawei offers second-level near-source threat blocking through network-security collaboration. Additionally, Huawei utilizes the iMaster NCE cloud management controller to implement unified management of network and security devices, resulting in an 80% improvement in security operations and maintenance efficiency.
Campus security has always been a top priority for enterprises, and the HiSec Solution offers a fresh approach to campus security construction. With its network-security collaboration capability, Huawei offers all-round security protection, which helps enterprise campus networks better manage and mitigate various network threats.
Introducing Major Products and Solutions to Safeguard Government and Enterprise Network Security
At the summit's exhibition area, Huawei presented cutting-edge security solutions, including the HiSec 3.0 cloud-network-security integrated protection system, an exclusive ransomware protection solution utilizing endpoint-network-storage collaboration tailored for data centers, and a powerful DDoS attack defense solution.
Huawei has proposed an industry-leading ransomware protection solution to tackle the increasing threat of ransomware in data centers, which is increasing by 3.5 times year on year. This innovative solution leverages endpoint-network-storage collaboration to provide comprehensive protection against ransomware attacks. By preventing ransomware intrusion at the network border and blocking its lateral movement through network-security collaboration, the solution achieves a detection rate of 99.9%. With multilayer collaborative defense on the endpoint, network, and storage sides, enterprises can now enjoy dual insurance for their valuable data assets.
The cost of launching DDoS attacks targeting data centers keeps decreasing, and volumetric attacks frequently occur. Once attacked by ransomware, data center networks may be congested and services interrupted. Powered by NP+CPU collaborative defense acceleration, a single Huawei AntiDDoS product can offer up to 2.4 Tbps defense performance. One such a device can block over 99% attacks in milliseconds, ensuring secure and stable running of customer services.
In recent years, network security has become a top priority for Asia Pacific countries, with related departments having issued laws and regulations to guide security construction. As a leading network security provider, Huawei is committed to investing in security root technologies and collaborating with partners to develop top-notch network security products and solutions. Our goal is to safeguard the digital transformation of thousands of industries and build a proactive defense system to ensure the security of governments and enterprises worldwide.
