PDG launches its new Indonesian data centre

Data centre provider Princeton Digital Group (PDG), has launched its 22MW hyperscale data centre facility Jakarta Cibitung 2 (JC2) in Greater Jakarta, Indonesia. Located, as its name implies, in Cibitung, the campus is 35 kilometres from Jakarta’s Central Business District.

PDG says the facility will deliver secure and scalable data centre capacity to hyperscalers and enterprises, including large cloud, content, commerce, AI and fintech companies.

Plans for JC2 were announced in 2021, although at the time it was slated to be ready for service by Q4 2022.

JC2, says PDG, is designed for reliability and scalability, with energy-efficient modular uninterrupted power systems and highly efficient chiller plants. It has achieved BCA Green Mark Platinum certification which requires high-energy performance, resource stewardship and advanced green efforts. The data centre campus is also the first in Indonesia to offer biomass-powered capacity to its customers.

The launch of JC2 makes PDG one of Indonesia’s largest carrier-neutral internet infrastructure operators, with six operational data centres in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Pekanbaru. PDG is also developing a 96MW campus in Batam as part of its comprehensive SG+ strategy. DG’s SG+ (Singapore Plus) strategy will enable customers to seamlessly expand their infrastructure from Singapore to highly scalable data centre campuses in Singapore, Batam and Johor.

PDG says it is committed to achieving Net Zero for its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 and that it is a strong supporter of Indonesia’s renewable energy goals. Apart from procuring biomass power, the company has secured geothermal energy in the form of renewable energy certificates (RECs) for three of its data centres in Jakarta, Bandung and Pekanbaru, and was the first corporate buyer of state-owned electricity firm PLN’s RECs.
