Huawei deploys FDD Massive MIMO for Orange Guinea

Orange Guinea and Huawei have deployed FDD Massive MIMO across the operator’s entire network.

The large-scale deployment is aimed at addressing the issues caused by an inadequate number of sites as well as insufficient spectrum resources and high PRB usage in key areas of the capital, Conakry. The technology boosts network capacity and user experience, facilitating an increase in network traffic of 32%.

Huawei claims that its beamforming technology reduces the average network load by around 83%, boosting cell capacity in a way that can deliver short-term profits but also meet traffic growth requirements over the medium term (i.e. the next three years). The vendor also notes that the technology will help to prepare for the rollout of 5G network infrastructure.
