Globe Telecom’s corporate venture builder unit, 917Ventures, says it’s embracing generative AI to boost its tech chops as it makes plans for its existing digital products and sets its sights on new ventures.
917Ventures managing director Vince Yamat said that generative AI is redefining the paradigms of digital innovation by making processes more efficient, personalized, and forward-thinking.
“We are building generative AI products to strengthen our tech capabilities,” said Yamat in a statement. “For 917Ventures, the goal is to really strengthen our telco-to-techco strategy and to build the next generation of great companies in the country by maximizing all of the assets of the Globe Group.”
Looking ahead, Yamat said 917Ventures will spend the rest of the year to scaling its current digital health product, KonsultaMD. As for new start-up opportunities, 917Ventures is currently keen on B2B SaaS for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as several climate tech initiatives.
For the latter category, the company is collaborating with Ayala Corporation and Gogoro to make Gogoro’s smart scooters and battery-swapping technology available in Metro Manila in the fourth quarter of this year.
