Now Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with US-based LEO satellite company AST SpaceMobile in a move to connect remote locations in the Philippines.
“This initiative focuses on providing comprehensive communication services, including voice, video, data, and internet connectivity, to remote regions with limited or non-existent infrastructure,” said parent company Now Corporation, reported Inquirer.net.
Now Corporation chairman Mel Velarde (pictured) added: “Every Filipino could connect his mobile phone from anywhere nationwide through NOW partner AST’s single cell site in the sky.”
The company added the partnership supports its Trusted Network initiative, as it aims to only partner with vendors it deems not a security risk.
The news follows Now recently signing an MoU with Mangata Networks to provide satellite broadband and edge computing to enterprises in the Philippines.
