CMC Networks taps acconic to bring NFV to Africa and Middle East

South Africa-based CMC Networks says it has partnered with German network solution provider aconnic to deliver NFV to service providers in Africa and the Middle East.

Under the partnetship arrangement, CMC Networks is deploying aconnic’s uSphir OS and NFV platform as part of its on-demand network-as-a-service (NaaS) offering, CMC Fusion.

CMC says the uSphir platform is designed specifically for disaggregated networks, integrating hardware, software and applications from multiple vendors to transform any whitebox into a fully operational universal CPE  and ensure carrier-grade network performance.

Adding that to the CMC Fusion platform will enable service providers to leverage service delivery automation to speed up new deployments at scale, said aconnic CEO Werner Neubauer.

“NFV enables service providers to deploy services in new and innovative ways, delivering the value customers are expecting with added speed and flexibility,” Neubauer said in a statement. “CMC Networks’ customers will be able to select any virtual network function (VNF) and any hardware platform with our open uSphir ecosystem.”

CMC Networks CEO Marisa Trisolino said the acconic partnership would improve delivery timelines and enhance CMC’s value proposition. “Fast, flexible and on-demand service delivery is critical to the efficient operations of the modern service provider, and a key driver for revenue growth.”

The NFV platform will be available to service providers across 51 countries in Africa and 12 countries in the Middle East covered by CMC Networks.
