FPT Retail launches MVNO offering in Vietnam

FPT Retail has reportedly become Vietnam’s fifth mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) after launching its service nationwide on Thursday, effectively giving FPT Telecom a mobile arm to leverage in its offerings.

FPT Retail – a subsidiary of Vietnamese conglomerate FPT Corporation – received its licence to provide telecoms services as an MVNO in May 2023. Other MVNOs in Vietnam include Dong Duong Telecom, Mobicast, ASIM, and VNSky.

According to Vietnam News Agency, FPT Retail will integrate services and utilities from FPT Telecom into its offering. FPT Telecom offers services such as internet connectivity, IPTV, smart home, leased line and data centre services.

FPT Retail will also leverage the rest of the FPT Corporation ecosystem, which includes technology solutions, digital services, cloud, software development and education services, said FPT Retail general director Hoang Trung Kien.

"We will integrate services, utilities, and content in the FPT ecosystem and with partners so that customers can conveniently use the services and effectively exploit selected packages,” he told Thanh Nien Magazine.

According to data from Ministry of Information and Communications, there were 2.65 million MVNO subscribers in Vietnam as of April 30, 2023. That accounts for 2.1% of the total mobile market.
