FPT and Nvidia partner to boost Vietnam as an AI hub

Vietnam’s biggest technology firm, FPT, has announced what it calls a comprehensive strategic partnership with technology giant Nvidia, aiming to offer what it calls a one-stop shop for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud.

It will consist of AI products, GPU infrastructure, tech experts and domain expertise for clients in Vietnam and all FPT’s presence areas.

The plan is to establish AI factories for AI research and development in the region, expanding advanced AI and cloud capabilities on a global scale, and fostering a future-ready workforce in technology.

Specifically, FPT plans to invest US$200 million in building an AI factory that will serve as a sovereign cloud. These will feature Nvidia’s latest technologies, including Nvidia’s AI Enterprise software and frameworks and Nvidia’s H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

This initiative, says FPT, is a critical part of FPT’s strategy in reinforcing AI research and development, creating AI applications and solutions with a focus on generative AI, autonomous driving, and green transformation for sustainability.

FPT says this also empowers it to realise the vision of transforming Vietnam into an AI nation and accelerating the adoption of AI applications in Asia, including, but not limited to, Vietnam, Japan, and Korea.

Indeed Dr Truong Gia Binh, FPT Corporation chairman and founder, points out that FPT is “working to achieve its vision to turn Vietnam into an AI hub of the world through collaboration with Nvidia”.

Reuters says that FPT is the most valuable technology company on Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City bourse, with a market capitalization of US$5.5 billion. It offers a variety of AI, cloud and big data services. Last year its total revenues exceeded US$2 billion.
