ZTE signs new deal with Banglalink to upgrade its 4G network

Chinese vendor ZTE announced on Monday that it has signed a strategic agreement with Veon’s Bangladesh operator Banglalink to enhance their existing collaboration to modernise and improve its 4G network infrastructure.

Under the new agreement, Banglalink will deploy ZTE’s latest technologies and algorithms to improve Banglalink's 4G coverage and network capacity. Technological and financial details were not disclosed.

Banglalink executives said that the chief aim of the upgrade is to boost the customer experience, which they also say will ultimately contribute to the government’s “Smart Bangladesh” vision.

“This strategic partnership, in collaboration with our initiative to double our network infrastructure, is expected to greatly enhance the digital experience for Banglalink customers by ensuring reliable and high-quality services,” said Banglalink CEO Erik Aas. “This advancement will significantly improve connectivity and user experiences.”

Banglalink also said it is determined to stay on top of the Ookla speed charts, which have ranked Banglalink’s data connectivity as the fastest in the country for the last four years.

Mao Junyong, CEO of ZTE Bangladesh, noted at the signing ceremony that Banglalink holds the largest market share for ZTE in Bangladesh, and the new agreement marks “a new phase” in their partnership. “We aim to enhance their network capabilities so that they can generate top-class user experiences.”
