Southeastern Europe-focused telecoms player United Group reportedly lined up potential buyers for its operations, with aims to gain €8 billion (US$8.57 billion) from potential sales, reported Bloomberg.
BC Partners which controls the United Group is apparently in early discussions with Apax Partners and Warburg Pincus, they will compete with Emirati Telecommunications Group and STC, said sources. Orange, Telekom Austria and Iliad have also showed interest in the past.
Last week, e& (Etisalat) ruled itself out in the running for United Group.
United Group could be sold by its individual markets said the sources. The group has units in Bulgaria, Bosnia & Herzegovina Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
BC Partners bought United Group in 2019 from private equity giants KKR. United Group sold tower assets to Saudi Telecom’s Tawal infrastructure arm last year for €1.22 billion.
