Thai telco Advanced Info Service (AIS) says it will deploy Oracle Alloy in its data centres to launch what it claims will be Thailand’s first locally owned and operated hyperscale cloud service.
According to a statement posted on Friday, the new AIS Cloud service will be deployed in two AIS data centres located in the country. AIS says this will allow customers to store data locally and meet organisational and requirements regarding data sovereignty, as well as comply with regulatory requirements such as Thailand's Personal Data Protection (PDPA) Act and the Cybersecurity Act. AIS also said this will enable customers to repatriate their existing cloud environments overseas back to Thailand.
Powered by Oracle Alloy, the new AIS Cloud service will give public and private sector organizations in Thailand – as well as AIS’ managed service partners – access to over 100 Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, including AI capabilities.
“Thailand is a strategic market for Oracle and the Oracle Alloy collaboration with AIS will serve as an industry gamechanger for the country,” said Garrett Ilg, executive VP and GM for Japan & Asia Pacific at Oracle. “It empowers AIS to become a hyperscale cloud provider, enabling them to build new services faster while delivering sovereign cloud and AI capabilities for its Thai customers.”
AIS CEO Somchai Lertsutiwong added that cloud tech is pivotal in supporting IT infrastructure modernization and innovation for organizations in Thailand.
“This strategic collaboration between Oracle and AIS will not only accelerate AIS’ transformation from a ‘Telco to a Techco’ but also unlock the immense potential for digital transformation and AI innovation for all organizations,” he said in a statement.
