Malaysian operators CelcomDigi and U Mobile, alongside ZTE announced recognition in the Malaysia Book of Records for achieving the fastest mobile speeds in in the world.
The live trial was conducted in the city of Kuching where the operators and vendor produced mobile speeds of 30.08Gbps with 5G-Advanced (5G-A). The partners also recorded individual users experiencing speeds of up to 8.5Gbps.
In a statement, ZTE said the companies intend to showcase the technology with Malaysia's first-ever 5G-A live broadcast from the opening ceremony of the 2024 Sukma Games in the state of Sarawak. The Chinese vendor claimed viewers of the opening ceremony of the games will experience high-resolution streams with low lag.
This will mark the first time broadcaster Radio Televisyen Malaysia will capture footage all via wireless technology.
