InfoRR, 4WNet tap Padtec to expand optical network to Amazonas

Brazilian ISP InfoRR is partnering with service provider 4WNet Telecomunicações to build a new DWDM optical network using equipment from Brazilian vendor Padtec to expand operations from the state of Roraima to Amazonas.

According to a statement from Padtec, InfoRR and 4WNet – both of which are based in Roraima – will build a roughly 800-km optical network connecting the capital cities of Boa Vista in Roraima and Manaus in Amazonas. The network will also cover an additional six municipalities in both states.

Under the project contract, Padtec is implementing a DWDM system with ROADM on its LightPad i6400G platform, which provides an automatic mechanism for flexibly adding capacity without interrupting service. The solution also includes dual TMD400G transponders with a capacity of 400 Gbps, optical switches and OTDR cards for continuous monitoring and rapid identification of fibre faults in throughout the route.

“With the combination of OTDR and ROADM intelligence and automation resources in a complete DWDM solution, InfoRR now has a highly available and reliable network that will allow it to offer its customers high-quality internet services,” says Argemiro Sousa, Padtec’s chief operations officer for equipment.

InfoRR director Ruandson Alves said the new network is in the final stages of implementation.

“Placing Roraima on another level of telecommunications has always been one of InfoRR’s main goals,” he said in a statement. “This new network is part of the company’s expansion strategy and the partnership with Padtec is in line with our goal of expanding the market by providing high-quality internet services to all of our customers.”
