Brazilian provider Oi deployed Nokia software to enhance broadband subscriber experiences, open new revenue channels and protect its assets from theft.
In a statement, the Finnish vendor announced Oi deployed its Corteca software to remotely manage and optimise millions of customer Wi-Fi routers. Nokia added this was the largest deployment of Corteca in the Latin America region.
Nokia noted providers are offering multi-gigabit speeds but 40% of households in the region report issues with in-home connectivity. This is due to complex installation processes, limited interoperability, inconsistent coverage and dead zones.
Oi will also be able to provide new services through Corteca and a cloud feature that enables the identification and location of stolen optical network terminals.
Oi CTO Gustavo Brambila said Nokia’s platform “significantly increased” efficiency in service management and positively impacted Net Promoter Score.
“This partnership has been crucial to our strategy of delivering excellent services and proactively protecting our assets,” added Brambila.
