Oracle announced plans to invest US$6.5 billion to develop a cloud region in Malaysia and prepare the nation for AI and cloud services.
In a statement, the US IT company said the cloud region will enable Oracle customers and partners in the Southeast Asian nation to leverage AI infrastructure and services and migrate mission-critical workloads to its cloud infrastructure.
Oracle detailed that the cloud region will help organisations to modernise their applications and workloads to the cloud, while also innovating with data, analytics and AI. The cloud services giant has been in operation In Malaysia for 36-years.
YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, minister of investment, trade and industry said the cloud region will enable the government to create 3,000 smart factories by 2030.

IDC VP of, cloud, data centre and future digital infrastructure, Asia Pacific, noted Malaysia’s public cloud services market is expected to grow by 27.2 percent CAGR from 2022 to 2027.
