Vietnamese operator VNPT has signed an agreement to use Ericsson equipment for its 5G rollout across major cities.
The Swedish vendor stated that VNPT’s deployment will focus on densely populated areas with high concentrations of VNPT customers, tourists, and developed enterprise or industrial zones.
The launch of 5G will enable new applications and services in Vietnam, such as enhanced mobile broadband and IoT, both of which will support the digital transformation of enterprises across various industries, Ericsson said.
VNPT CEO Huynh Quang Liem commented: “Collaborating with Ericsson will enable VNPT to rapidly deploy a world-class 5G network and meet the growing demands of our customers in Vietnam. 5G will serve as the foundation driving Vietnam’s economic development and societal progress, accelerating its journey towards becoming a digital economy.”

Ericsson also secured a depoyment contract with state-owned operator Viettel.
