PLDT Group’s data centre arm Vitro, a subsidiary of ePLDT, and Hong Kong-based HGC Global Communications said on Monday they have formed a strategic partnership to improve data centre connectivity in the Philippines.
As part of the partnership deal, HGC has joined PLDT Enterprise’s Vitro Partner Network (VPN), the alliance of carriers, system integrators, and technology companies that enables partners to seamlessly incorporate Vitro’s infrastructure into their solutions.
This allows HGC to expand its footprint to the new Vitro Sta. Rosa data centre, which PLDT claims is the first and biggest hyperscale-grade data center in the Philippines. HGC said it will provide connectivity and telecoms services to hyperscalers and enterprises co-located at Vitro Sta. Rosa, giving them greater reach and more connectivity options.
HGC also said the deal enhances its PoP in the Philippines and creates an ecosystem that will enable it to further expand its data centre connectivity and reinforce its position in the Philippines’ rapidly growing technology and digital infrastructure landscape.
“By leveraging Vitro’s state-of-the-art infrastructure alongside HGC’s extensive premium fibre-optic network in Luzon, including NCR [a.k.a. Metro Manila] and strategic portions of Mindanao, as well as our comprehensive ICT solutions and telecommunications services across the globe, this partnership will gear us towards our goal of delivering the same quality of service that HGC offers globally,” said Michael De Castro, first VP of in-country project investment for HGC’s international business unit, and president of HGC’s Digital Well Infrastructure Corp (DWIC).
Vitro chief commercial officer Gary F. Ignacio said partnership “will unlock new possibilities for Vitro and further expand our reach through HGC’s global network.”
