Service provider e& UAE and leading technology company Huawei have announced a strategic collaboration focused on what they describe as revolutionising voice network innovation through convergence and voice over new radio (VoNR).
This partnership, they add, aims to promote a greener, more efficient and more intelligent voice network.
While e& has already achieved an impressive VoLTE traffic ratio in its mobile network, evolving market demands and growing technologies are driving the transformation of voice services. Recognising this shift from traditional voice to video and immersive communications, e& UAE and Huawei say they will leverage advanced technologies, including the IMS data channel, AI and augmented reality (AR) to enhance calling services.
The New Calling initiative, as it is known, aims to introduce several innovative services. They include visualised voice calling, through which users can display customised avatars during calls to convey emotions and express their personalities, and the enterprise visible hotline, a way of enhancing business communications with accessible and efficient hotline services.
Also part of the initiative is remote assistance – providing users with real-time support through innovative calling solutions – AIGC avatars – a way of leveraging AI to create interactive and engaging user experiences – and real-time translation.
As part of this collaboration, e& UAE and Huawei say they will utilise the commercial project to establish a close partnership, focusing on developing New Calling services that enhance user experience and drive efficiency in both B2C and B2B interactions.
