Leading Azerbaijani service provider AZERFON, operating under the Nar Mobile brand, has contracted CBOSS to supply and implement its new roaming subsystem, CBOSSnrtrde, with the aim of tackling roaming fraud.
The ever-increasing number of roaming contracts offered by telecommunications companies requires tight regulation, with roaming fraud presenting a serious threat to the profitability of such services. The GSM Association has therefore recommended that implementation of NRTRDE (Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange) technology should become obligatory for all GSMA members.
NRTRDE is aimed at reducing the losses caused by roaming fraud. Compared to the previous technology - HUR (High Usage Report) - NRTRDE speeds up roaming activity reporting, requiring operators to send roaming data to partners within a maximum of four hours. The GSMA recommends that data is sent within a five to fifteen minute period. The sent data details key call information; if it is received by roaming partners in a timely fashion, it can be analysed quickly in order to detect and suppress fraud.
The CBOSS solution built on NRTRDE technology enables service providers to fulfil the GSMA recommendations and minimise losses, and includes a full range of options for end-to-end automation of the process of interaction with roaming partners. AZERFON (Nar Mobile) has secured around 140 contracts for domestic roaming services and 85 contracts for roaming Internet access using CBOSS solutions.
