Claro standardises Central America platform with Open Systems solution

Latin America’s largest mobile phone network Claro is set to augment its operations in Honduras by implementing Open Systems’ SmartFlex solution, following a decision from its operator, América Móvil. The move follows a successful deployment of the solution by Claro’s Enitel operation in Nicaragua.

The implementation of SmartFlex in Honduras demonstrates that Claro is moving to standardise its Central America services platform, basing it on the solution. SmartFlex will allow Claro to bundle products and services, improve customer care, rating, settlement and invoicing processes. End users will benefit from integrated management of requests, claims, complaints and consumption metering.

The convergent solution will integrate numerous processes onto a single platform - among them work orders, network inventory, maintenance, sales, invoicing, geographic inventory and field operations processes – allowing for greater ease of management.

Hernando Parrott, Open Systems’ Vice-President of Business Development for Latin America, commented: “With this acquisition, América Móvil, not only confirms its reliability and trust in Open Systems as the company providing support to its critical mission processes but allows Open to enter a new market - Honduras. The implementation process will begin with the installation of the platform in DTH (Direct to Home), HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) and Data Transmission services”.
