Comprion reveals first solution for combined LTE/USIM handset testing paving the way for LTE

Comprion has unveiled the first solution for LTE/USIM handset conformance testing according to 3GPP TS 31.121 USIM Rel-8. Comprion SIMfony LTE was developed with support of Rohde & Schwarz, a leading global test & measurement specialist. It will be shown for the first time at the Mobile World Congress February 15-18, 2010 in Barcelona.

Comprion SIMfony LTE consists of the Rohde & Schwarz network simulator R&S®CMW500 and the GCF/PTCRB validated (U)SIM simulator IT³ Platform for conformance testing. The solution will also be available with the pre-conformance tester IT³ Prove!.

The IT³ Platform is the heart of Comprion’s terminal testing solution and is validated as a platform for conformance testing at GCF and PTCRB. Besides the ability to execute pre-defined test suites, it is a fully configurable analogue and logical card simulator for testing mobile handsets and Smart Card interface technologies.

The R&S CMW500 is the single-box radio communications tester that supports the largest number of technologies, including LTE. This enables the possibility to run test cases using several radio Access Technologies on a single-box which is also necessary for new USIM TCs requiring an LTE/W-CDMA or LTE/GSM environment.

The combination of both solutions results in a test system of outstanding utility. The simulators are working seamlessly together running combined tests against the mobile. The operator just has to interact with the familiar IT³ GUI during test case execution and result analysis. With its integrated test system synchronisation and efficient error debugging capabilities, Comprion SIMfony LTE is the perfect companion for everyone searching for a fast, reliable and easy-to-use mobile handset conformance test system.

“Thanks to the combined expertise of Rohde & Schwarz in network simulation and Comprion in USIM interface testing, Comprion has developed a pioneering solution for combined LTE/USIM testing. The R&S®CMW500 integrates perfectly into the SIMfony LTE system.” says Comprion Managing Director Michael Wehmeier about the collaboration.
