Nokia, Ooredoo Enhance Network Quality in Myanmar

Nokia, Ooredoo sign MoU to further enhance network quality and customer experience in Myanmar

Nokia and Ooredoo Myanmar have expanded their five-year partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop a program which will further enhance the quality of network experience for Ooredoo’s customers.

As part of this agreement, Nokia will leverage its advanced analytics and 3D Geolocation tools to analyse network coverage and quality, and to enhance Ooredoo’s network. The resulting higher-quality network will allow Ooredoo’s customers to enjoy high bandwidth-consuming applications, such as watching videos and playing online games to best in class standards.

Nokia will also develop a comprehensive end-to-end network enhancement program, which brings together its network optimisation experts with advanced tools, processes and methodologies. The program will serve Ooredoo Myanmar’s young subscribers, enriching their daily use of social media, gaming and video applications.

The improved quality services will enable Ooredoo Myanmar to better serve its existing customers and attract new customers. With the help of advanced analytics, predictive optimisation will be employed to boost the Quality of Experience (QoE) for prioritised applications and services.

Vikram Sinha, Chief Executive Officer at Ooredoo Myanmar, said: “Providing a world class quality of service to our customers is an important part of delivering on our promise to help our customers to enjoy the internet every day in their own way. Through our partnership with Nokia we are confident that, thanks to their expertise, we will be able to provide even better access to digital entertainment and some of the smoothest video streaming and gaming experiences available.”

Sandeep Girotra, Head of Asia Pacific and Japan at Nokia, said: “We believe telecommunication companies have yet to realise the advantages of leveraging network analytics to provide better services. These tools can potentially also help firms identify new efficiencies or revenue sources. We have a longstanding relationship with Ooredoo Myanmar and are excited to help them unlock the value of analytics to gain actionable insights.”

Solution details at a glance:

  • Nokia 3D Geolocation uses patented algorithms to identify coverage gaps and service degradations both outdoors and inside high-rise buildings. Performance issues can be rapidly addressed through the optimization of antenna tilt, azimuth and power levels.
  • Predictive Optimization uses advanced analytics to model network performance and simulate the impact of coverage issues, congestion and interference on the QoE. QoE can then be boosted through a range of optimization methods, including parameterization, the activation of new software features or the deployment of a small cell to address a localized issue.
  • Professional services including Network Implementation and Care will be used to support the deployment.
  • Nokia’s Network Planning and Optimization, which has been rated as the industry leader by analyst firm Global Data since 2016, will help ensure the best QoE for Ooredoo subscribers in Myanmar
  • Nokia Traffica real-time network analytics software will provide monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities, while giving insights into traffic, network, locations, devices and subscribers to help Ooredoo deliver a superior customer experience.
