Orange Jordan launches mobile e-wallet service

Orange Jordan, a provider of telecommunications services in Jordan, officially launched its mobile e-wallet service, Orange Money, at a special event this week.

The event, which was attended by government  officials, alongside the company’s management and strategic partners, celebrated the launch of the financial solution, which recently acquired an e-payment license from the country’s Central Bank.

Thierry Marigny, Orange Jordan’s CEO, said that the e-wallet service will enable users to conduct financial processes, anywhere and at any time, with ease. Raslan Deiranieh, Orange Money’s chairman, explained that the company has signed an agreement with Gate to Pay, a specialist in tailoring creative and secure fintech solutions, which has developed the e-wallet’s software and an anti-money laundering system, issuing prepaid VISA cards.

Orange Money has also signed an agreement with the Housing Bank for Trade and Finance, through which the bank will settle Orange Money services and will enable users to withdraw and deposit cash directly from the bank’s ATMs.

The company said that it seeks to offer a comprehensive set of services, not only for Orange Jordan’s customers but also for users of any telecom services inside Jordan via the e-wallet, which enables users to pay bills, transfer money, shop online, and recharge mobile prepaid credit.

It's been a busy start to 2020 for the Orange brand in the region. Last week saw Orange officially inaugurate the Orange Middle East and Africa operational head office in Morocco.

The new headquarters is located in Casablanca Finance City Tower (CFC) in the heart of Casablanca and offers videoconference and telepresence rooms, enabling teams to remain connected to other countries in the region, as well as what the company calls a Social Hub, which will supervise and monitor the digital activity of Orange and the industry in general in Africa and the Middle East in real time.
