Nepal’s Subisu Cablenet is boosting its network capacity using Nokia’s 100G backbone optical network.
The ISP first partnered with Nokia in May 2018 in order to boost its FTTH deployment. With subscriber demand on the rise, Subisu is now rolling out Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology.
The 100G optical technology has been deployed at 11 areas in the country, and allows Subisu to deliver speeds of 1Gbps, enabling services such as high speed broadband and IPTV to be used even in remote regions of the country. The technology can be scaled up with ease.
Subisu CEO Binaya Mohan Saud noted: “With this initiative, we will be able to realise our business objective of adding new revenue streams and bringing the latest services to our subscribers. We have a long-standing relationship with Nokia and are excited to leverage their solution and expertise for this crucial initiative. This project will also help us to differentiate our services based on the quality of networks.”
