Hungarian operator group 4iG has officially entered the telecoms market in North Macedonia by establishing a subsidiary, ONE Macedonia Telecommunications, as part of its growth strategy.
In a recent statement, 4iG revealed that its telecoms subsidiary, Antenna Hungaria, created the new entity following board approval. This move comes after the North Macedonian government endorsed 4iG’s entry into the market last month, having signed a Memorandum of Understanding for long-term cooperation between the two parties.
Tamás Tábori, Deputy CEO of 4iG, has been appointed as Managing Director of ONE Macedonia Telecommunications. The company has already initiated consultations with North Macedonia’s telecoms regulator, the Agency for Electronic Communications, and engaged consultancy firms to assist in implementing its strategy in the Western Balkans.
“We are committed to entering the Macedonian telecommunications market with the same dedication and innovation as in Albania and Montenegro. Establishing ONE Macedonia Telecommunications is our first major step towards becoming a key telecommunications provider in North Macedonia,” said Tábori.
While no specific timeline for a commercial launch has been set, the new unit will offer a range of services, including mobile, fixed-line, satellite, wholesale, and retail telecommunications products.
4iG’s regional expansion strategy also includes acquiring One Telecommunications in Albania and Telenor Montenegro (now ONE Montenegro) in 2021.
